This one was a fun build. A shop ADU out in Nampa - the kind of structure that needs to hold up over the long haul and still look sharp doing it. The owner wanted something clean and low-maintenance, so we went with vertical metal siding and a quality architectural shingle roof. That combination checks a lot of boxes.
Metal siding is a smart call for a shop or outbuilding. It handles weather well, it doesn't rot or warp, and it keeps its look without a lot of upkeep. Paired with the crisp white finish on this build, it gives the whole structure a clean, modern farmhouse feel that fits right in with the property.
The architectural shingle roof ties it all together. That dark charcoal color against the white siding is a classic combo for a reason - it's sharp, it's timeless, and it doesn't go out of style. More importantly, architectural shingles give you real protection. They're thicker and more durable than basic 3-tab shingles, which matters when Idaho winters roll in.
What we're proud of here is how the whole exterior comes together as one cohesive package. The siding installation, the roofline, the covered porch section running along the side - everything was planned and executed to work as a unit. That kind of attention to how the pieces fit together is what separates a good build from a great one.
